{"id":1283,"date":"2023-06-06T22:17:23","date_gmt":"2023-06-06T22:17:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/futsal.com\/?p=1283"},"modified":"2023-06-06T22:18:26","modified_gmt":"2023-06-06T22:18:26","slug":"rip-john-murphy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/futsal.com\/rip-john-murphy\/","title":{"rendered":"RIP John Murphy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1284\" src=\"https:\/\/futsal.com\/gold\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Murphy2005-300x271.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"271\" srcset=\"https:\/\/futsal.com\/gold\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Murphy2005-300x271.jpg 300w, https:\/\/futsal.com\/gold\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Murphy2005.jpg 665w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/>U.S. Futsal, US Soccer and the California legal community lost a man that devoted a lot of his life for Soccer and Futsal.\u00a0 John Murphy served for many years as a soccer referee and high-level administrator both in the outdoor game and in Futsal.\u00a0 He served as a State Referee, referee instructor and referee assessor for U.S. Soccer.\u00a0 He refereed Adult, Youth, and high school soccer games in the Alameda and Contra Cost a county area.\u00a0 He served as a District Commissioner for Region IV in Cal-North and as the Chairman of the Board of the California Youth Soccer Association-North, as a member of various committees for US Soccer and for US Youth Soccer.\u00a0 Additionally, John served as a member of the Board of Directors of the California North Referee Association (CNRA) and for many years as a member of the U.S. Futsal Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<p>For over 30 years, he also ran youth soccer tournaments, worked as a referee, taught referee instructional classes and trained youth referees, and served on the CYSA-N District IV Board of Directors, the CYSA-N Board of Directors and the US Futsal Board of Directors. He worked on developing the sport in California of soccer and Futsal, improving the training and development of all referees, and train young people as referees.\u00a0 When John served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of CYSA-N it had over 100,000 players.\u00a0 When he assisted on national committees for US Youth Soccer, US Soccer, and US Futsal he had an indirect impact on a great many more players, referees, and administrators.<\/p>\n<p>John strongly believed in giving back to the community and found ways to volunteer in other, non-soccer, programs, despite working full time as an attorney, for the Supreme Court of California and, effectively, full time in soccer and futsal.\u00a0 John left the world a better place for his efforts, and we will all miss him.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>U.S. Futsal, US Soccer and the California legal community lost a man that devoted a lot of his life for Soccer and Futsal.\u00a0 John Murphy served for many years as&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":1284,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[6],"tags":[],"class_list":{"0":"post-1283","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-national-news"},"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.8 -
